The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has raised serious concerns regarding the misuse of its logo by 1Life Insurance, following the circulation of promotional materials that implied a partnership between the two entities.

Sassa has firmly denied any association with 1Life Insurance, stating that it “strongly distances itself” from the claims and explicitly confirmed that there is no collaboration to provide funeral cover.
The agency further clarified that it “does not collaborate with any insurance firms or funeral schemes,” and any statements suggesting such a partnership are misleading to the public.

Additionally, Sassa has warned insurance companies and funeral schemes against the unauthorized use of its logo, emphasizing that the agency will not tolerate any misrepresentation of its brand.
In response to the allegations, 1Life Insurance acknowledged Sassa’s public statement and assured that it takes concerns about its brand and logo seriously. The company clarified that it does not use the Sassa logo in any of its authorized promotional material, nor does it advertise any products as being associated with Sassa.
1Life Insurance also addressed the image that sparked the controversy, confirming that it was not authentic promotional content and did not belong to any campaign or communication sanctioned by the company. They emphasized that all partners must strictly adhere to the company’s brand standards.

The insurance company assured the public that it would thoroughly investigate the matter and welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with Sassa. They stated, “Any concerns can be formally shared with us, properly assessed, and addressed in due course.”
Both Sassa and 1Life Insurance have made it clear that there is no partnership between the two, and the unauthorized use of the Sassa logo will not be tolerated. The public has been urged to disregard any misleading promotional materials, and further steps are being taken to ensure that such incidents do not occur again.
