The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released its payment schedule for the 2026/2027 financial year. This tells people when they can expect to get their Older Persons, Disability, and Children’s grants.
The agency said in a statement that the schedule was made public after the National Treasury gave its approval on , March 20.
Older Persons grants will be paid on April 2, Disability grants on April 7, and Children’s grants on April 8.
Grants for older people are due on May 5, grants for people with disabilities are due on May 6, and grants for children are due on May 7.
“The main rule for deciding when to pay social grants is to make sure they are paid as soon as possible in the month, spread out over three days.”The agency said, “In most months, the old age grant will be paid on the 2nd of each month, the disability grant on the 3rd of the month, and the children’s grants on the 4th of the month.”
SASSA said that other things are taken into account to make sure payments go smoothly. For example, grants shouldn’t be paid right after a public holiday, on the 1st of the month, or on a Monday, and they shouldn’t happen on weekends.
The agency also said that if the payment date is on a weekend or holiday, the grant will be paid the next business day.
Here is the full schedule for the year:
- June: Older People on June 2, People with Disabilities on June 3, Children on June 4, and Exceptions on June 5.
- July: 2nd for older people, 3rd for people with disabilities, 6th for kids, and 7th for exceptions
- August: 4th for older people, 5th for disabled people, 6th for kids, and 7th for exceptions
- September: 2nd for older people, 3rd for people with disabilities, 4th for children, and 7th for exceptions.
- October: Older People on the 2nd, Disabled People on the 5th, Children on the 6th, and Exceptions on the 7th
- November: 3rd for older people, 4th for people with disabilities, 5th for children, and 6th for exceptions
- December: People over 65 on the 2nd, people with disabilities on the 3rd, kids on the 4th, and exceptions on the 7th.
- January 2027: Older People on January 5, Disabled People on January 6, Children on January 7, and Exceptions on January 8
- February 2027: 2 February for older people, 3 February for people with disabilities, 4 February for kids, and 5 February for exceptions.
- Older People: March 2, 2027; Disabled People: March 3, 2027; Children: March 4, 2027; Exceptions: March 5, 2027.
- The agency said, “SASSA reaffirms its commitment to paying social grants to eligible beneficiaries on time and urges all beneficiaries who may not have
- received their grants on these dates to go to their nearest SASSA local office for help.”
The agency also said that the full schedule for July 2026 to March 2027 can be found on the SASSA website or at local offices.
IOL said before that during the budget presentation in February 2026, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said that several social grants would be raised. These changes will start in April.
Grants for old age, disability, and care dependency go up by R80 to R2,400.
The war veterans grant goes up by R80 to R2,420.
Foster care grant goes up to R1,290 in April and R1,300 in October.
Child support and grant-in-aid grants go up by R20 to R580.
Social relief of distress will stay the same for 2026/27.
